MAY AUTO 2006 - CADILLAC ESCALADE -
-- FRESH OFF THE SHOWROOM FLOOR -- The Escalade has been a serious presence in the street since its inception. The new 2007 model will be no exception. With an updated grill, big factory chrome tires, and a little fish-gill thing going on, the new escalade is truly a beautiful car. When tallied among the staff, this new model has only spotted three times in person so far, and all of them have been black. I'm sure many have been sold and are out getting new shoes and sound systems all across the North East.
Introduced this spring, the new 2007 Escalade will also be offered in the longer wheelbase “ESV” edition, and the “EXT” that’s based off the Chevy Avalanche. The two model variations aren’t expected till later in the year, but we’re pretty excited about them. Aside from its great new look, the Escalade features an all new interior, and a completely updated frame as well. Despite the update, this Escalade still exhibits many of the stylistic cues of its predecessor.
Another favorite point of reference for the Whipwork staff is the new shape of the front headlights which have a sharper, edgier feel. Our thought is that a good chunk of this cars inspiration came from the Maybach sedan. We recently had an opportunity to take a look at the Maybach 57S, which is the shorter, sportier version of the Mayback model. Aside from providing inspiration for the S-class, we wonder if the shorter model will really catch on since the Maybach has proven itself to be a car where one is driven in the back, not behind the wheel.
Many of the biggest strides made by the new model are in the realm of safety. New air bag placement, along with a stronger frame, and rollover features all help to bring the new model up-to-speed with many safety developments that can be seen throughout the SUV category. But did we mention that you can get it straight from the factory with monster chrome wheels?? This surely will be a big seller moving into the summer, and we hope to bring you pictures of the EXT and the ESV models as they become available.
